AATTA Interview Video
An awesome project, an awesome performance, and here's my awesome video. That's right, I'm proud of this video that resulted from a strong desire to share not only our blog project but awareness about student thought and opinion on the arts and alcohol awareness: all done in a very short amount of time.
I Learned the Hard Way
"DRINKING DOES NOT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY."
My freshman year of college here at DSU I created some art pieces for the AATTA. Using an inspiration from Frank Warren, the artist and mastermind behind the POST SECRET series. In order to create these works of art I contacted some of my closest friends and asked them for any quotes or reactions they have had related to alcohol. I ensured them that their thoughts would remain anonymous. I then combined their quotes, as well as my own, with my photography.
I have been taken back by the amount of response I have gotten from this series. Since I created this artwork in 2006, it has been displayed for the AATTA program every year. Mrs. Carr, who is the head of this program, has also taken my art to state wide meetings and programs similar to the AATTA. I have actually been personally contacted by people who have been touched in such a way, dealing with their own recovery from alcoholism. This is the reason that I created this series of art. My goal was to touch at least one person, and I know I have done that!
